The game begins with the person to the left of the dealer betting a small blind, or bet, while the person the left of that person bets a large blind. Then the dealer deals out two cards to every one of the players, and the first round of betting takes place. Each of the players is free to raise, fold or call. After the first round of betting is over, the dealer burns, or discards the top card of the deck, and the proceeds to deal the first three community cards, called the "flop". The players then bet again, with a second round of betting. This is how the game is played in most casinos.
