Poker and women: are they compatible?
Poker and Women: are they compatible? Chauvinists would certainly say no. But to many women, they believe they could handle the heat of poker. Some even go far as to state that it is in poker that men and women are finally equal, so there shouldn't be a special division for women poker players. However, poker tournaments still insist on having poker events especially for women. What women can do about this is to play the women's events and also play at the main event so that they could prove that they are even better than the male poker players.Initially, people scowl at the sight of a woman joining a poker game. Much like the real world, people believe that poker is also a man's world. But then, how come more and more women are winning at poker championships? There are women poker players who are even worshipped by their male counterparts. Examples of these are Anne Duke, Kathie Liebert and Barbara Enright.
Poker is a game of skill, and to say that women have no skills is a downright insult. You do not need big muscles to win at poker. All you have to do is make good decisions. Women are capable of that, or to go further, women excel at that. Remember that it is usually the woman who manages the household. This house management profession, is something more often than not associated with women. This profession is all about decision making. Therefore, women have had lots of practice in this skill, which they can use in poker.
At present, there are women who play at the tournaments, play live, and enter ring games. Some of them have already made a name for themselves in the world of poker. For poker enthusiasts, the names Cissy Bottoms, Jennifer Harmon and Cindy Violette should be familiar. These are just some of the women who have made the poker world stop and think over their notion that women have no place in poker. In a way, it can can be said that poker is liberating; it becomes an equalizer. It is a venue where women can prove that what men can do, they also can, and sometimes better. If someday, the majority of poker's top 10 will be women, it will not be so surprising. After all, poker knows no gender. If you are a man but aren'y very skilled at poker, then you are just a bad poker player. There should not be such a thing as best women poker player or best men poker player. It should all boil down to who are the best poker players of the world, regardless of gender.
